→ Nifemi Marcus-Bello
Nifemi Marcus-Bello is a designer based in Lagos, Nigeria, and the founder of the nmbello Studio. Known for its community-led, ethnographic-conscious design approach. The studio centres on core values of innovation, usability, and sustainability, adopting local materials and processes. This enables Marcus-Bello to pursue new forms and typologies in the creation of unique products, and experiences, and he has a particular interest in manufacturing and production availability, habits, and history. Marcus-Bello has received awards such as the Emerging Designer of the Year at the Monocle Design Awards in 2023; the Hublot LVMH Design Prize in 2022; and the “Life Enhancer of the Year'' award by Wallpaper*in 2021. He graduated from the University of Leeds with Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Product Design and received the “Potential for Social Change'' award from the University. He has lectured at the Columbia Graduate School of Architecture and the Design Academy of Eindhoven.
