→ SAT02 Tote Bag

Commissioned by the Sharjah Architecture Triennial for its 2023 edition, 1000 denim tote bags were designed and produced by triennial participant BUZIGAHILL, a Kampala-based clothing brand. The project is part of their initiative “RETURN TO SENDER”, in which they redesign second-hand clothes shipped to Uganda and redistribute them to the Global North. Each tote bag is made from one pair of second-hand jeans, sourced from Owino Market in Kampala. Through this exercise, a total of 1700 pairs of discarded jeans have found an alternative use.
