→ SAT02 Bucket Hat

Commissioned by the Sharjah Architecture Triennial for its 2023 edition, 500 denim bucket hats were designed and produced by triennial participant BUZIGAHILL, a Kampala-based clothing brand. The project is part of their initiative “RETURN TO SENDER”, in which they redesign second-hand clothes shipped to Uganda and redistribute them to the Global North. 1000 tote bags were produced for the triennial, each made from one pair of second-hand jeans. The offcuts from this process were used to produce each bucket hat. Through this exercise, a total of 1700 pairs of discarded jeans have found an alternative use.
