This textile woven on the age-old vertical weaving loom illustrates design and circularity. Woven by the hands of Artisans in Nigeria, the design symbolizes a “zeroing in” and “broadening out” of an invasive aquatic weed called water hyacinth. Its brown earth tones reflect woven water hyacinth threads (yarn) while the green embroidered circles depict the visual identity of SAT02. We have taken water hyacinth, a destructive aquatic weed and broadened its application positively in sustainable décor using heritage Akwete weaving techniques.
