Tropical Modernism: Architecture and Power in West Africa critically reflects on how an architectural style was initially developed as a tool to support colonial rule. In the period that followed Ghana’s independence in 1957, West African architects adapted tropical modernism to champion Pan-African ideals. The film features interviews with protagonists, experts, and footage of remaining buildings. This panel will reflect on the film's themes including the conservation of Modernist architectural heritage throughout West Africa.
